The Year 8s have made a good start to 2009, rising to the challenge of adapting to change. They are no longer the little ones of the school; their lockers are in different places, they have different teachers and subjects and a new learning space. So far the Year 8s have taken a flexible and mature approach to the changes and I thank them very much for their hard work. We are very focussed on helping students achieve the best possible outcomes this year, both socially and academically. In particular we are focussed on working in teams and building students’ team skills. The Year 8 teachers are leading the way, planning and teaching together to offer the students the most appropriate learning activities and content for their needs. We are also determined to improve the communication between teachers and parents, as well as students’ organisation skills. We are hoping that the lovely webpage, that Miss Jessica Jeacle designed, will do just that. Every Year 8 student has been invited to join 8Space. The webpage includes a timetable, the homework for the week, records, extension work and a discussion forum. This is a private site that requires an invitation to enter. All parents are welcome.
