30th Birthday celebrations
The 30th Birthday was a time to recognise all the successes of Coomoora, for today and for the past thirty years. Hundreds of past students, current students and members of the College Community came and took part in an enjoyable and rewarding day.
It began with the music – with the Concert band, the Year 11 rock band ‘Black Arrow’ enlivening the atmosphere. This continued throughout the day and the foyer was crowded with teenagers sampling the musical delights.
What’s a party without the amusements? The jumping castle was a big hit with the kids all day. On the big screen, the Rock Eisteddfod performances were played ‘jukebox style’ by Mr Binge, who called out, ‘pick a number!’ to the audience, and then he would play a performance from 1997 through to 2005.
‘Where is the dark room, where is P7?’ It was enjoyable hearing stories by past students, showing that while there have been many changes, many things remain the same.
In many ways the Police vs Students Soccer match was the focus of the day. The annual ‘Coomoora Cup’ was at stake. Last year the police won the cup, and the students had been training for months to win back our cup. After a closely contested match, the Hon. Tim Holding, MLA was on hand to present the Coomoora Cup to…Coomoora!
Many thanks to the PTSFA for organising the day. Special thanks to Mr Kavanagh, Ms Elliston, Ms Fung and to all the staff who assisted on the day.
