Year 7 Camp
What a way to start the year! What could be better than the surf, sand and sunshine? It’s always a pleasure to attend the Year 7 Lorne Camp, it’s away for teachers and students to get to know one another and also have a whole lot of fun! The Year 7 students this year enjoyed activities such as boogie boarding and surfing, not to mention a rigorous hike up to Teddy’s Lookout!
They were very happy to see me waiting for them at the top with their refreshments though they didn’t like the fact that I drove the water up there and passed them in my car on the way up the hill! The camp provided a great opportunity for our Year 7s to get to know each other, play lots of games and make some friends in their first week at secondary college. Thanks to Ms Rayner, Miss Vella, Mr Salim, Mr Krywula and Jeff Andrews for all of their help. Also, thank you to all of the students who attended the camp – we hope you had a great time!

On February 4th the Year 7s went on camp. During the first day we were put into cabins and groups. My group went and did boogie boarding first. Boogie boarding was fun and challenging. The challenging part was to get the right waves and to balance on the board. Our next activity was the pier walk. I liked the pier walk because it was fun and I got to see people catch fish, but mostly squid.
On the second day my group did the long walk. It was tiring and very long. We walked up the hill and into the bush. Our next activity was SURFING! Surfing was very challenging. I eventually was able to stand on the board. After that we had a sand sculpture contest and my group made a mermaid tail. Later that night we had games and contests. I really enjoyed those games! On the last day we started to pack up and do some cleaning but we also had some beach activities. After that we ate lunch and off we went back to school.
